Dental Bridges
Types of Dental Bridges
Offered at Our Nashville Practice
Bridges consist of one or more artificial teeth, or pontics, supported by dental crowns. The crowns can be placed either on nearby natural teeth or on top of dental implants. Here’s a closer look at the types of bridges you can receive with us:
Traditional Bridges
Traditional bridges can replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth in a row with natural-looking pontics. The dental crowns at each end of the bridge are attached to your natural teeth. Each tooth on either side of the gap — also known as the abutment teeth — must be healthy enough to support the restoration.
Implant-Supported Bridges
These bridges don’t rely on natural teeth to hold your restoration in place. As the name implies, the restoration is fixed securely to your jawbone with surgically-placed dental implants. It takes about three to six months for the implants to fuse with your jawbone, after which the bridge is attached.
Your dentist will assess your mouth and consult you on your dental goals to determine which type of dental bridge is best for you.
What You Can Expect When Getting a Dental Bridge
If you’re receiving an implant-supported bridge, dental implants must be placed before you receive your dental bridge.
We Offer Sedation Options for Comfortable Dentistry
You may feel anxious before a dental procedure — especially one that involves surgery, such as implant placement for a bridge or denture. Fortunately, our Nashville practice offers nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation to help keep patients comfortable throughout the entire process. Consult your dentist about which sedation option may be right for you.
Exploring the Cost of Dental Bridges
There are several factors that influence the cost of dental bridges, including the number of false teeth needed to fill the gap, the materials used for the crowns and pontics, and the complexity of the procedure. However, bridges are typically covered in part by most dental insurance policies.
Gulch Dental Studio accepts most insurances and will help maximize the coverage available to you. Our dentistry practice also accepts financing through CareCredit® to help manage out-of-pocket expenses.

View On GoogleI went in as a new patient and experienced a first-rate exam and cleaning...Dr. Harris made what time he could to discuss findings, next steps, as well as ask me if I had any questions. I’m walking away with two more appointments already scheduled and a better outlook on my oral health.
